Share: Print: Duties Assists the District Nurse in establishing nursing procedures in each school to promote healthy environment for the school's student body and staff. Assists district administration in establishing all health related rules, regulations and procedures necessary to provide a healthy and safe environment for all the students and staff of District 200. On an as needed basis, helps the staff develop appropriate lessons in the area of good hygiene and deliver this instruction as necessary. Assists the District Nurse by accurately maintaining all required student health records in each school. Assists the District Nurse by storing and making inventories of all nursing supplies in the office of the nurse or area designated by each Principal. Observes, cares for and counsels the ill, injured and infirm in the schools. Under the supervision of the District Nurse, counsels the students, parents or guardian regarding long and short-term health improvement plans. Administers medications and treatments as prescribed by a physician or dentist. Assists the District Nurse by performing the required vision and hearing screenings and follow up. Makes referrals to other staff members, physicians, dentists and community agencies in efforts to obtain optimal care for the students. Qualifications Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois. Ability to function effectively as a member of the school staff. Such other requirements as the Board may establish. Salary/Benefits Placement on the NBESS Union Schedule depending on training/experience. 7 hours per day with a half hour unpaid lunch.
