Duties

• Build rapport with the students and their families
• Support all grades (6-7-8) in the daily Junior High rotation
• Plan and present lessons for multiple environments
• Work with the General Education team to accommodate and modify work
• Document and report students' learning progress
• Partner with the district’s Special Education team and service providers
• Attend meetings with parents and staff as needed
• Other assigned duties

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with a valid Illinois Professional Educator Teaching License with the required (LBS1) endorsements
• We are open to applicants who may need to pursue a Provisional certificate
• Applicants must be skilled in working with student accommodations, developing lesson plans, and differentiating instruction based on students' unique needs
• Effective communication and strong collaboration skills are essential
• Strong classroom management skills 
• Strong knowledge of Google Suite and other computer applications
• Highly qualified candidates may have endorsements in other areas that benefit the school

Salary/Benefits

Per the current salary agreement; Health insurance is covered for the employee at 90% and Family coverage options are available at 70%. $25,000 of life insurance is provided to the employee at no cost. Additional benefits are available at the employee’s expense through American Fidelity (Accident, Cancer, Critical Illness, Disability, Hospital Indemnity, Gap Insurance, and Life Insurance)

Additional Notes

Colona School uses a balanced calendar that mirrors United Township High School.  As a result, school typically starts in late July or early August.  The school takes a one-week fall break (normally in October), two weeks off for winter break (December), and two weeks off for spring break (usually in March). The school year ends at the end of May like most other schools.  Due to the early start, Colona is a fully air-conditioned school.
