Duties

Under the supervision and direction of the Vice President of Ministry and Mission, the Assistant Campus Minister helps create opportunities for spiritual education, nourishment and enrichment for staff and students. The Assistant Campus Minister promotes the Catholic identity and Dominican charisms of the school, helps to build a faith community, encourages discipleship and Christian leadership, engages the community in the celebration of liturgies, sacraments, and retreats, and brings awareness to Catholic Social Teaching.

Duties:

  • Coordinating and executing the Day of Service
  • Moderating Service Club and promoting service opportunities for students (creating relationships with area organizations)
  • Preparation and set up for liturgical events (Masses, prayer services)
    • Practicing with readers, altar servers, etc.
    • Notifying maintenance of needs
    • Communicating with music ministers
    • Securing priest if needed
  • Planning of the Faculty Retreat
  • Helping prepare and execute class retreats
  • Promoting spiritual devotions/practices through creating awareness and making space for students to participate in them (rosary, stations of the cross, Eucharistic Adoration, etc.)
  • Promoting the Catholic and Dominican presence in all areas of school life (classroom athletics, social activities, etc.)
  • Coordinating with Advancement yearly alumni Masses in the Chapel
  • Coordinating yearly Lenten Mission Drive
  • Programming as needed/requested throughout the school year
  • Other as determined by the Vice President of Ministry and Mission

Qualifications

  • Must be a practicing Catholic with an active sacramental and faith life and in good standing with the Catholic Church
  • Must have experience in youth ministry or church ministry, and a pastoral degree from a Catholic university
  • Must be knowledgeable about Catholic liturgy, the liturgical year, Scripture, Church Tradition, Catholic Social Teaching, prayer and sacraments
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn Microsoft Publisher
  • Is self-disciplined, adaptable and flexible
  • Has skills in communication, initiative, creativity, and problem solving
  • Is able to work as part of a team

Additional Notes

Part-time: 20-25hrs/wk

Responsibilities:

  • Acts as a role model of professionalism in a Catholic, Dominican environment
  • Upholds the teachings of the Magisterium of the Catholic Church
  • Supports the philosophy, policies, and goals of the school, as well as the decisions made by the President and the Vice President of Ministry and Mission of Marian Catholic High School.
  • Insures the health, safety, and welfare of all students
  • Holds in strict confidence all matters pertaining to the school
  • Adheres to all policies and procedures as stated in the employee handbook and the student handbook
  • Attends meetings as needed
  • Other as determined by the Vice President of Ministry and Mission
