Executive Director of Business & Finance (CSBO)

Duties

JOB GOAL:
To administer the business affairs of the district in such a way as to provide the best possible educational
services with the financial resources available.


Performance Responsibilities:

  • Assumes responsibility for budget development and long-range financial planning; 
  • Establishes and supervises a program of budget control; 
  • Establishes and supervises a program of accounting and reporting for the financial affairs of the district; 
  • Develops and administers a program for purchasing supplies and equipment; 
  • Directs the preparation of all payrolls for the school district; 
  • Audits and presents all invoices for payment; 
  • Participates in the negotiations and implementation of collective bargaining agreements;  
  • Maintains financial records of construction funds and of bidding, contracts, payments, and performance in all construction projects; 
  • Manages the investment program for the school district; 
  • Assists in the preparation of state and federal or other special project applications, claims, and reports; 
  • Administers, through the food services director, the operation of the food service program; 
  • Maintains an inventory of the buildings and capital equipment of the district; 
  • Directs the use and rental of all buildings and grounds by school and community organizations; 
  • Organizes and directs a program to provide for the security of the buildings, grounds and equipment of the district; 
  • Manages the district’s real estate and insurance program; 
  • Makes such financial studies as the superintendent shall direct and to recommend to the superintendent changes and improvements in the business operation of the school system; 
  • Supervises and evaluates the directors of Food Service, Transportation, and Facilities & Grounds; 
  • Advises and assists central office administrators, principals, and others with regard to any of the business operations of the school district; 
  • Performs any other appropriate duties provided by any policy of the board or as directed by the superintendent. 

 



Qualifications

  • A master’s degree in education, business management, or accounting.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in one of the above fields, including
    at least one year of experience in a supervisory capacity.
  • Valid Illinois licensure as a Chief School Business Official.
  • Such alternative to the above qualifications as the Board may find
    appropriate and acceptable.

Salary/Benefits

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve-month year. Salary and calendar to be established by the Board of Education.   Salary Range of $110,000 - $125,000.00 based on experience.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation.
