Duties
Duties and responsibilities for the Northview Social Emotional/Behavioral and Academic Intervention Specialist include but are not limited to:
- Lead the school-wide Social Emotional/Behavioral Multi-Tier System of Support model (MTSS).
- Instructs students using the District evidence-based, Tier I, SEL program with fidelity.
- Coordinate and conduct the SAEBRS benchmark assessments.
- Analyze and communicate SAEBRS results to parents, teachers, and administration.
- Conduct classroom observations detailing observations.
- Provides coaching and support to the teaching staff.
- Plans, implements, and assesses behavioral, emotional, and academic intervention supports.
- Works with teachers and paraprofessionals to ensure proper implementation of interventions.
- Assists with completing discipline referrals and reports.
- Communicates regularly and effectively with parents and guardians.
- Assists in preventative measures such as monitoring lunches, passing periods, recesses, supervising student activities, and developing and implementing strategies to improve behaviors.
- Collaborates with administrators, teachers, staff, and families to develop and implement effective PBIS, social-emotional, behavior, and academic plans.
- Collects data used to monitor and evaluate student progress.
- Assisting with creating a positive and supportive school culture and climate.
- Ascribes to the philosophy that all children can succeed and demonstrates the commitment to do what is necessary to make this a reality.
- Demonstrates exceptional skill in the roles of a teacher leader, collaborator, action researcher, reflective practitioner, and learner advocate.
- Assist staff in: defining and measuring behavior; understanding principles of reinforcement; teaching new behavior; and identifying antecedents.
- Facilitate team meetings with the identified student’s teachers and parents for the purpose of completing behavior plans and student interventions.
- Models evidence-based strategies that assist students in assessing their own work and behavior.
- Work cooperatively with building administrators to promote positive student behavior through professional development and coaching that emphasizes evidence-based strategies to support teachers in their implementation of positive behavior support in their classrooms.
- Engage parents in the “student behavior intervention plan” process and empower parents by providing them with skills and techniques to support the positive behavior development of their child.
- Consult with school social worker, administration, teachers, and parents.
- Attend professional development opportunities to maintain a high level of skill and knowledge of current research and practices.
- And other duties as assigned Administration.
Qualifications
Highly qualified teacher preferably with a General Administrator certification licensed in the State of Illinois. The Social Emotional/Behavior and Academic Intervention Specialist must have strong communication and problem-solving skills, be highly organized, experienced with data analysis, and experienced working with students with IEP, behavioral, academic, attendance, and or social-emotional needs. Additionally, the Social Emotional/Behavior and Academic Intervention Specialist must be CPI trained and certified.
