Duties

The Speech/Language Pathologist assists in developing speech and language skills to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students.  In order to respond to the individual needs and abilities of students, the Speech/Language Pathologist must work closely with the staff and administration of the cooperative and school district.

Qualifications

  • Must hold an Illinois Professional Educators License (registered in ELIS).
  • Must hold certification for Speech and Language Pathologist (CCC).
  • Must be licensed by the state of Illinois (IDFPR).

Salary/Benefits

  • Up to a $6000 sign on bonus
  • Based on a negotiated salary schedule.
  • ASHA, Licensure and local SLP organization fees and dues paid by the district.

Additional Notes

Specific Job Duties:

  1. Assist in the early recognition and prevention of educational problems.
  2. Monitor student progress and make informed, timely educational decisions.  
  3. Conduct speech, language, and hearing screenings and diagnostic evaluations to determine the need for clinical services.  
  4. Participate as a team member in the comprehensive evaluation, review, and reevaluation process.  
  5. Participate in the development of student Individualized Education Plans.  
  6. Consult with parents, teachers, administrators, and others concerning the needs of students and special services that are available. 
  7. Assist teachers in the development and implementation of curriculum modifications and appropriate classroom strategies.  
  8. Refer students and their families to appropriate community agencies and services.  
  9. Cooperate with agencies serving students and their families.  
  10. Provide therapy, follow-up, and/or consultation based on student IEP's.
  11. Maintain appropriate, confidential records and provide timely reports.  
  12. Order and maintain an adequate inventory of materials and supplies. 
  13. Keep abreast of new information, innovative ideas, and techniques. 
  14. See that school district and cooperative policies are observed during all activities.
  15. Additional duties as assigned by administration.
