Description: Special Education Coordinator
Job Summary: The Special Education Coordinator will have duties that include but are not limited to and must know or be able to:
- Assist the Director of Special Education in the global management, supervision, and compliance of the district's Special Education programs.
- Serve as LEA at IEP meetings and ensure the IEP and Section 504 paperwork is in compliance with federal, state, and district standards.
- Conduct observations of students & staff in order to make informed decisions about programming and services.
- Provide training, technical assistance, professional development, and resources to special education teachers and related service staff to improve student learning and behavior.
- Participate in the recruitment, hiring, and evaluation of special education staff members.
- Strong knowledge of Section 504 and Special Education laws, rules, regulations, and educational research-based instructional practices.
- Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills.
- Maintain communication, collaboration, and accept feedback in order to maintain consistency and promote best practices throughout the district.
- Attend professional meetings, workshops, conferences, and actively participate in professional organizations
- Other duties as assigned.
Salary/Benefits
Base salary range of $75,000-$80,000 plus benefits. Final salary will be negotiated based on the candidate's qualifications and experience. It is anticipated that the contract will be 200 days each year.
