Duties

  1. Supervises compliance with state requirements. 
  2. Acts as a liaison between home and school. 
  3. Assists with vision and hearing screening. 
  4. Contracts doctors and outside agencies as needed. 
  5. Organizes and completes spinal screening at the middle schools. 
  6. Monitors school compliance with student records. Monitor compliance with health policies.  
  7. Works with staff concerning health related issues.
  8.  Recommends policies and procedures to the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent of Special Services. 
  9. Oversees the distribution of health-related materials and supplies. 

Qualifications

  • Good physical health and clean background check 

  • B.S. Nursing 

  • Licensed as a registered professional nurse in Illinois 

  • Professional Educator License with endorsement in school nursing 

  • 300-hour internship under supervision of a fully qualified school nurse 

  • Passage of the School Nurse Content examination through the Illinois State Board of Education 

  • Demonstrates in leadership and decision making  

  • Communicates clearly in oral and written form 

  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
