Job Summary:
The Parent Educator/Community Outreach Liaison provides emotional support to 3-5 year old students who attend the District’s pre-kindergarten program. The individual promotes parental engagement with families through home visits, parent group activities, and parent/child interactive events. The individual plans and facilitates community outreach activities, and coordinates preschool screening activities. In addition, the Parent Educator/Community Outreach Liaison establishes, facilitates, and strengthens ongoing community outreach efforts that are focused on identifying high need families with young children (birth to age five) who reside in the four communities serviced by the district. The individual collaborates with local pastors, social service agency representatives, and advisory board members, thus establishing a visible presence within the communities for the purpose of identifying and supporting families with young children.




  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, child development, child and family services, early childhood education, psychology or sociology with preschool or kindergarten experience;
  • Candidates with a bachelor’s degree in a related field of study may be considered;
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications or community relations preferred;
  • Two years of experience working intensely with young children and families of culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds;
  • Demonstrated success in the coordination of comprehensive services in support of at-risk families;
  • Strong background in early childhood education, social/emotional skill development, and advocacy;
  • Ability to effectively collaborate and communicate with community agencies; 
  • Experience conducting effective community outreach ability to effective community outreach efforts and connecting high need families with services; 
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills;
  • Ability to facilitate and lead community outreach and networking efforts; 
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and writing with staff, families, administrators, and community members in a clear, articulate, and courteous manner; 
  • A self-starter with the flexibility to work alone or with others in a wide variety of circumstances; 
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evening and weekends; 
  • Must hold a valid state of Illinois driver’s license; and
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.



  • Starting salary of $48,304.00, including a competitive benefits package;
  • Employee assistance program offered to employees and their immediate family members.

Additional Notes

Working Conditions:

  • Monday- Friday, 8:00 a.m.  3:00 p.m. (may include some evenings and weekends)
  • 180 days per year -  August through May/June
