Duties

Develop lessons plans, test plans, power points and guides and other materials needed for the instructors to teach. Develop student workbooks, tests, quizzes and other student materials needed based off the lesson guides to help facilitate student learning and comprehension.

 

Specific tasks include:

  • Submit the lesson plans, test plans, guides, student and other course material to the COR and LSO. Upon concurrence, formalizing into the Navy’s format and any printing, the LSO and COR will return the materials back to the Contractor to use in the courses of instruction.
  • Update/revise the course material as needed to implement corrections and improvements.
  • Teach a classroom of FSPC students in a group-paced format using official curricula, to include but not limited to an Instructor Guide, and Student Guide that are either hard copy or digitized.
  • Maintain an orderly, professional atmosphere in all classrooms and laboratories under their cognizance. Students whose conduct is not conducive to such an atmosphere shall be cautioned, and if the inappropriate conduct continues, shall be referred to the RDC, LSO and COR.
  • Provide guidance on the design, administration, evaluation, and documentation on the effects of academic training protocols for personnel in training who are under the supervision of the military.
  • Assist the LSO and COR in developing lesson and test plans for academic instruction.
  • Assist the LSO and COR in developing test and quizzes for courses which require them per their test plan.
  • Inventory instructional material, classroom and supply room inventories ensuring the required amount of materials are available. Submit in writing a supply request to the LSO when inventory levels drop to the ordering levels.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Must possess a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred, in mathematics or reading education, or closely related field from an accredited educational institution.
  • Minimum of 3-years or more of demonstrable accumulated experience (continuous and sustained experience preferred) in (young) adult education (2-year college setting preferred, high school setting acceptable). Experience teaching Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2 OR Experience teaching reading, or reading literacy.
  • Experience developing long and short-range planning and coordination of academic improvement programs resulting in attributable results with individuals or groups at the high school or college levels or with military personnel in the accompanying, respective settings.
  • Must have completed one of the following forms of training: (a) Military Service Instructor Training Course (ITC) (b) Instructor training via an academic institution (c) Academic credentialing (teacher/professor). Maintenance of required training and/or certification shall be an enduring element of the requirement.
    1. ITC training requirements. Academic institutions ITC should contain at a minimum, these Learning Objectives:
      1. Effective communication and questioning techniques.
      2. Adult learning theory and principles.
  • Instructional Delivery methods.
  1. Lesson delivery performance laboratory.
  2. Training environment management.
  3. Inter-personal skills.
  • Evaluation and Feedback.
  • Ability to gain familiarity with applicable Navy rules, regulations and Navy course curriculum.
  • Possess familiarity with Technical Training Equipment, Technical Training Devices, including Electronic Podiums, Automated Electronic Classrooms (AECs), Presentation Technology Classrooms (PTCs), Video Teaching and Teleconference (VTT), Instructor podium, and equipment.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and sound skills in written and oral communication is a must.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
