Position:                     Speech Language Pathologist

Reports To:                Principal
                                    Director of Teaching and Learning               


Responsible for evaluating students’ speech and language skill; providing therapeutic intervention to identified students; consulting with staff and/or parents regarding speech and language functioning in the educational setting.

  1. Serves as a resource to school staff members in the development of a balanced program for oral communication and speech improvement.
  2. Identifies and evaluates students with speech and language impairments.
  3. Provides a therapeutic program to meet individual needs of speech and language impaired children.
  4. Participates in the determination of eligibility for special education and related services in the area of speech and language impairment.
  5. Participates in the teacher and parent conferences including multidisciplinary conferences, IEP meetings and Annual Reviews.
  6. Develops and implements IEPs for all students eligible for special education and related services in the area of speech and language impairment.
  7. Team teaches with classroom teachers when appropriate.
  8. Completes required documentation and reports.
  9. Participates on case study and collaboration teams as needed.
  10. Facilitates curriculum and instructional modifications.

  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with:
  • Speech Pathologist (teaching or non-teaching) endorsement
