Duties
JOB DUTIES:
- Develop Individualized Education Programs (IEP’s) for Students; maintain compliance with all Federal Regulations and State Policies regarding the education of students with disabilities.
- Provide educational and behavioral supports to enable students to improve academically and behaviorally.
- Collect and analyze student data in order to modify and/or develop appropriate educational and behavioral goals.
- Be able to implement specific educational and behavioral supports.
- Provide direction and training to paraprofessional staff.
- Effectively work with a large team of professionals.
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
- Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
- Build a partnership with families, encouraging their active participation in students’ learning.
- Ensure appropriate accommodations to the curriculum, lessons and learning environment. Instruction may be provided within the regular classroom setting and/or small classroom setting.
- May assist students with physical disabilities according to their needs, including transferring to and from wheelchairs; lifting; positioning; or assisting students with personal care such as
feeding, bathroom needs, and personal hygiene.
Qualifications
Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with Learning Behavior Specialist
I endorsement or Learning Behavior Specialist II endorsement preferred.
