Job Goals:

  1. To serve as chief executive officer of the Board of Education, responsible for the efficient and effective leadership of all programs, services and activities of Richland School District 88A.
  2. Adhere, support and advocate the Mission, includiing the Strategic Plan of Richland School District 88A

Performance Responsibilities:

  1. Executive Officer of the Board.
  2. Administers, as chief school executive, the development and maintenance of a positive educational program designed to meet the needs of the community and to carry out the policies of the Board.
  3. Recommends the number and types of positions required to provide proper personnel for the operation of all programs to the Board.
  4. Recommends policies on organization, finance, instruction, physical plant and all other functions of the school program to the Board.
  5. Nominates for appointment, assigns and defines the duties of all personnel, subject to approval of the Board.
  6. Confers periodically with professional and lay groups concerning the school program and transmits to the Board suggestions gained from such conferences.
  7. Supervises the preparation and presentation of the annual budget and recommends it to the Board for approval.

  9. Formulates and administers a system for annual performance evaluation and personally supervises and evaluates the performance of employees reporting directly to the superintendent.
  10. Sees that all policies, rules and regulations established by the Board of Education are carried out.
  11. Serves as representative of the Board to school personnel and of the school personnel to the Board.
  12. Represents the Board of Education and School District 88A in the immediate and extended community with open and honest communication.
  13. Directs the development, coordination and management of the district’s curriculum and
  14. Formulates and recommends to the Board of Education both short and long term objectives and procedure for aspects of district operation and strategic planning.
  15. Provides the Board of Education with reports and information which will enable the Board to critically review the operation of the district and provide constructive advice and guidance as to improvement possibilities.


  1. As set forth by the State of Illinois Certification requirements
  2. Graduate work beyond the Master’s level required, Doctorate preferred
  3. A minimum of five (5) years of education administrative experience required, district-level experience preferred
