Duties

The Director of Business and Finance will be responsible for a variety of responsibilities and tasks to support the Regional Office of Education (ROE) in matters related to the financial management of the organization.

This is a full-time, 12-month position. Salary based on required credentials and experience. Please be prepared to include a cover letter, resume, and references to apply.

GENERAL EXPECTATIONS:

The successful candidate for this position will act as Director of Business and Finance and will be responsible for a variety of responsibilities and tasks to support the Regional Office of Education (ROE) in matters related to the financial management of the organization.

POSITION EXPECTATIONS:

Critical Duties:

  • Responsible for managing all funding sources, including managing all grants from inception to completion
  • Completes all audits in relation to the Regional Office such as all State requirements, IMRF, TRS, Federal Programs: SEL, McKinney-Vento, Perkins, etc.
  • Completes all audits in relation to CEANCI and RAS.
  • Completes all Workman’s Compensation audits.
  • Prepares the annual budget for the Superintendent's review.
  • Prepares monthly financial reports for the Superintendent including but not limited to cash flow, expenditures, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and ledger reconciliation.
  • Supervises and evaluates the accounts payable and payroll/finance clerk.
  • Oversees all purchasing, billing, and receiving.
  • Oversees all functions related to payroll.

Reporting:

  • Prepares state and federal reports, including but not limited to GATA, BCFST, TRS, IMRF, and 1099s.
  • Prepares monthly financial reports for the Superintendent, including but not limited to cash flow, expenditures, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and ledger reconciliations.
  • Ensures that the quarterly wage reports, including W-2s, are completed on time.
  • Completes all Quarterly Wage Reports.
  • Supports the Regional Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent, as needed, in any official or unofficial complaint.

Other:

  • Meets regularly with Regional Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent to update tasks and projects.
  • Works collaboratively with the ROE Directors to ensure all financial needs are accounted for.
  • Is an active member of the ROE leadership team as needed
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Job qualifications:

  • Knowledge/experience in accounting.
  • Knowledge/experience with computers and accounting/financial software
  • Bachelor's degree required in Finance or Accounting.
  • Preferred candidate will have a C.P.A. license and/or Chief School Business Official endorsement.
  • Prior supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Experience in the successful operation of a financial office required, experience in a public school or government entity environment preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills: written and verbal.
  • Proven experience working in a team environment.
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to think creatively and out of the box.
  • High level of technology skills and the ability to utilize multiple software packages.
  • Proven ability to remain impartial and unbiased.
  • Evidence of confidentiality in work history.

Salary/Benefits

Working conditions:

  • 8:00-4:30: Monday-Friday with flexible schedule as approved by the Regional Superintendent
  • 12-month position

  • This position is eligible for work from home and will follow the work from home procedures as outlined in the policy manual
