Duties
Chesterton Academy of the Sacred Heart is seeking a part-time, high school math teacher whose love of the subject material is matched by their love of teaching and forming high school students in the Catholic faith.
Teaching assignment will be for one upper-level math course (Pre-calculus or Statistics), which meets for 45-minute class sessions, five days per week. Teacher will be expected to hold a weekly office hour, and/or otherwise provide time for student questions/inquiries. Teacher will adhere to the Chesterton Academy syllabus provided, be responsible for delivering course content, and grade homework, tests, and quizzes in a timely fashion.
Teachers are expected to demonstrate superior teaching ability, content excellence, adherence to the Chesterton Academy syllabi, excellent classroom management, and promote a joy-filled culture.
The Part-Time Math Teacher reports directly to the headmaster of Chesterton Academy of the Sacred Heart. A collaborative relationship between the teacher and the headmaster is paramount.
Qualifications
Candidates must demonstrate excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills, be supportive of a classroom of students with a wide variety of math backgrounds, and support the mission and culture of Chesterton Academy of the Sacred Heart. A bachelor's degree must be completed by time of hire. Position begins August 1, 2023.
