Duties

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations that include but are not limited to the assessment of intellectual, developmental, academic, and social/emotional status for the purpose of special education evaluations. 
  2. Interpret and utilize assessment data for the purpose of writing psychological reports and developing recommendations for special education services and/or intervention plans. 
  3. Assist in the development of individualized education plans in collaboration with teachers and other staff members. 
  4. Screen students per parent and/or teacher request, of ADHD symptoms. 
  5. Assist parents in locating available social/emotional and mental health resources within the community. 
  6. Participate as part of a student services team and assist with the recommendation of academic/behavioral interventions and referrals for special education evaluations. 
  7. Assist with universal benchmarking. 
  8. Assist with school-wide behavior and academic RtI programs. 
  9. Assist in the development of teacher implemented interventions. 
  10. Consult with teachers and administrators regarding specific students. 
  11. Assist school social worker/school counselor in providing crisis intervention services. 
  12. Assist school social worker/school counselor in conducting Functional Behavioral Assessments and/or Behavior Intervention Plans for both general education and special education students. 
  13. Assist in completing preschool screenings and completing evaluations of preschool students if needed. 
  14. Bill Medicaid for services provided. 
  15. Submit all required paperwork in a timely manner, adhering to all federal and state laws and policies. 
  16. Attend workshops, seminars or professional meetings to remain informed of new developments in school psychology. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

  1. Work with Northwest Special Education Cooperative in ensuring the district is meeting all requirements under federal and state laws. 
  2. Be the contact person for the district when transferring children from Early Intervention into the preschool program. Will be responsible for completing Early Intervention paperwork, scheduling and attending transition, domains and eligibility meetings. 
  3. Act as an alternative LEA Representative, per building administrator’s discretion, for IEP and 504 meetings to ensure the district is complying with the procedural and substantive requirements of the IDEA. 
  4. Evaluation of special education faculty.  

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

  1. Requires prolonged sitting or standing.
  2. Requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials.
  3. Occasional stooping, bending, and reaching.
  4. Requires some travel.
  5. Must work in noisy and crowded environments.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/TRAINING:

  1. Master’s degree or higher from an accredited college/university.
  2. Professional Educators License (PEL) with a school psychology endorsement.
  3. Desire to continue career improvement.
