Duties

Job Summary:
The art teacher is responsible for delivering engaging and differentiated instruction that is aligned to the curriculum and learning standards. The teacher’s goal is to develop in each student an interest in and the ability for creative expression using skills and techniques of artistic expression that are consistent with the curriculum.   The teacher establishes a culture for learning within the classroom, ensuring that students grow academically, socially, and emotionally. The teacher maintains regular communication with parent(s)/guardian(s) with regard to the instructional program and student progress.  This position may require travel between two school sites on a daily basis.     
 

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Current and valid  Illinois Professional Educator License with a visual arts/art endorsement (K-12) or an Elementary Education (K-9) with a middle grades art endorsement;
  • Foundational knowledge of distance learning structures and of Google Suite applications;
  • Ability to assess the learning of students and modify or enhance instruction as needed;
  • Ability to analyze various forms of data and use the information to make instructional decisions;
  • Knowledge of learning styles and skill in using standards-based varied teaching methods to address student learning styles;  
  • Able to work with a diverse student population and establish open and regular communication with parents and guardians;
  • Must hold a valid state of Illinois driver’s license;
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.

Salary/Benefits

Salary and Benefits: 

  • Starting salary of $48,304; (Please click the link to view the current (Salary Schedule);
  • Salary is commensurate with education and experience and includes a competitive benefits package;

  • Qualified candidates may be granted up to twenty years of verified full-time teaching experience for credit on the salary schedule;
