Duties

Increase student success by collaborating with students, families, ROYALS’ leadership team, home districts and community agencies.

Increase student access and education in the area of Social Emotional Learning (SEL).

In coordination with teachers, monitor student SEL progress and refer student to outside agencies. 

Meet with students individually and in small groups. Share necessary information with principal, lead teacher, families, and school districts.

Work with teachers to identify student behavioral needs, gather data and create behavioral plans to improve student behaviors, as needed.

Attend intake meetings, as necessary.

Collect and maintain notes and paperwork that support student’s SEL.

Assist with coordination of field trips with a SEL focus.

Communicate with home districts’ Social Workers or Counselors to gain baseline information regarding newly referred students to ROYALS.

Serve as the homeless liaison for ROYALS students. Advocate on behalf of students in the McKinney Vento program.

Assist with communications and action required for homebound or hospitalized students. Particularly, students returning to ROYALS after a hospitalization.

Coordinate with principal, as necessary to develop professional development for staff that is designed to bolster student SEL success.

Performs all other duties as assigned by the administrator.

 

Qualifications

Licensed in Illinois as a School Social Work, Social Worker or School Counselor or Counselor or other as approved by the Regional Superintendent.

ROYALS has sites in Canton, Macomb and Carthage. We serve students in grades 6-12. This position is located at ROYALS Carthage in Carthage, IL. This position is a 180 day/school year position.
