Duties

To be a successful teacher in Flossmoor 161, you will implement the instructional and behavioral components of the individualized education program for the students to whom you are assigned, establish effective rapport with students, motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for elementary grade education according to each student's ability, and establish good relationships with parents and with other staff members.

Parker Junior High is our only middle school in Flossmoor School District 161 with approximately 900 students. Parker houses District 161's instructional programs for its middle grade levels, so you would be working on a team with one other special education teacher as well as an assistant principal, 3 social workers, speech language pathologist, and school psychologist to provide amazing learning experiences for our students!

Qualifications

To be qualified for the position, you will need a Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Education and you must have taught Special Education Instructional – 6-8 in the last ten (10) years or have taken coursework, seminars or workshops relevant to Special Education Instructional – 6-8 education in the last two (2) years..  Additionally, a valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Learning Behavior Specialist I (LBS 1) endorsement is required.
