Duties
Reporting to the Executive Director, assists in responding to legislative inquiries on education bills and issues; resolves sensitive issues; provides written summaries and recommendations on legislation affecting the Agency and education; develops and maintains databases; attends hearing and committee meetings.
- Researches and responds to constituent and legislative inquiries from legislators, liaisons, directors and/or the Governor's office staff regarding education bills and issues.
- Assists state liaison staff in planning and developing a strong state legislative program and effectively coordinates legislative initiatives.
- Provides written summaries and recommendations of legislative action that may affect education and the Agency to the Executive Director, Superintendent or other agency staff.
- Represents the Agency, may attend and document legislative committee meetings during legislative session.
- Resolves situations of a sensitive nature by researching, analyzing and handling problems that arise and ensures that accurate responses are provided and deadlines met.
- Assists in developing and maintaining detailed databases.
- Provides complex management reports including tracking the status of and agency position on pending legislation.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
