Duties

Job Summary:
The social worker funded through School-Based Mental Health Grant performs duties directly related to providing social emotional-related support. The social worker utilizes knowledge of human behavior, social, cultural and community influences to help create a positive learning climate; connects community, school, and home resources to ensure a comprehensive system of support aimed at students’ optimal functioning within the academic program. 

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Current and valid state of Illinois Professional Educator License with an endorsement in school social work;
  • Candidate must have a Masters of Social Work from an accredited educational institution;
  • Demonstrate capabilities in leadership, public, and community relations;
  • Knowledge of current federal and state laws, rules, and regulations;
  • An outstanding knowledge of child and adolescent development, social and environmental conditioning, cultural diversity, and family systems;
  • Ability to develop IEP goals for students and to provide social emotional support through services and interventions that are aligned with ISBE's Social Emotional Learning (SEL) standards;
  • Ability to conduct assessments for the purposes of determining the social, emotional, and behavior needs of students;
  • Experience conducting social development studies, functional behavior assessments, and developing behavior intervention plans;
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.

Salary and Benefits:

  • Salary is commensurate with education and experience and includes a competitive benefits package;

  • Qualified candidates may be granted up to eight years of verified full-time public-school teaching experience for credit on the salary schedule;
