Duties

Job Summary: 
The intervention teacher supports the District's Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) framework by analyzing assessment data and providing research-based interventions to individuals or small groups of students in support of the core curriculum. Instructional support is provided within a co-teaching and/or push-in setting. The intervention teacher serves as a resource to the classroom teacher and participates as an active member of the MTSS team. The intervention teacher is also responsible for assessing student progress, monitoring academic growth, and communicating information with regard to academic progress to members of the MTSS team, including parents/guardians.  

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • State of Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with endorsements in elementary self-contained general education, self-contained general education, and/or early childhood (Grades K-9, 1-6, or Birth-2) dependent on the grade span of the students the teacher is working with;
  • With a reading or reading specialist endorsement preferred;
  • Five years of successful teaching experience;
  • Foundational knowledge of distance learning structures and of Google Suite applications;
  • Familiarity with the MTSS process;
  • Knowledge of effective intervention strategies and instructional best practices;
  • Ability to assess the learning of students and modify or enhance instruction as needed;
  • Ability to analyze various forms of data and use the information to make instructional decisions;
  • Knowledge of learning styles and skill in using standards-based varied teaching methods to address student learning styles;  
  • Able to work with a diverse student population and establish open and regular communication with parents and guardians; and
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
