Duties
The Academy for Global Citizenship is seeking an experienced full-time Case Manager to work alongside our Diverse Learners Team composed of 2 other Case Managers. Our school has a shared leadership approach: K-2 Case Manager, 3-5 Case Manager and 6-8 Case Manager. We are looking for someone who believes that every student deserves the best educational experience and is in support of inclusion best practices and educating students in the setting that is best for them. This position is ideal for a passionate and creative educator seeking a collaborative and open environment for whole-student learning. Our educators are defining and disseminating best practices daily within a unique public school setting. Those with Dual Language (English/Spanish) and International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme experience are strongly encouraged to apply. Please note that this is a temporary position with a pathway to become a permanent hire.
Responsibilities include:
- Management: Ensures that Special Education services are in place. Leads IEP and 504 meetings with a team-approach. Develops appropriate transition plans, behavior plans and homebound services for students as needed. Alongside the leadership team, recommends interventions and reviews data.
- Organization: Follows the yearly meeting schedule that ensures 100% compliance in accordance with special education due dates and timelines. Maintains organized systems regarding the related services professionals and an experienced team of paraprofessionals.
- Collaboration: Maintains positive communication with staff members to ensure all members of the IEP team are prepared to meet all IEP and 504 deadlines. Collaborates with the special education teachers and subject course teachers to support in collecting and compiling data for all services in the IEPs. Collaborates with the school team to ensure schedules promote success and inclusion.
- Professional Expertise: Maintains student paper and electronic files in accordance with CPS file protocols and state and federal laws. Reviews all IEPs for quality and provides feedback and professional development to teaching staff regarding IEP writing.
- Community: Schedule, complete, and document all required parent communication in preparation of IEP and 504 meetings in compliance with state and federal laws. Encourages the use of community resources, cooperates with families in welcoming them to our community and maintains solid communication with all community members.
- Assessment Coordination: Collaborate with administration and staff to provide appropriate accommodations and modifications during assessments.
- Teaching: Helps students develop to their full academic potential while systematically increasing their social and independent functioning skills in the LRE3 classroom setting.

Qualifications
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- 3+ years (ideal) experience as an educator
- Familiarity with IB (MYP) (ideal)
- Familiarity with inquiry-based teaching
- Believer in culturally relevant teaching
- Strong leadership, communication skills and personal drive
- Ability to maintain a safe, orderly environment, in accordance with restorative justice practices
- Experience with MTSS process and accommodating students diverse learners in the classroom
- Bilingual in Spanish and English (ideal)
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor Degree in Education
- LBS1 Certification
- Middle School Endorsement
- State of Illinois Teaching Certificate in relevant area
- Certification in Bilingual Education, ESL Endorsement or extensive experience in ELL instruction (ideal)
