Duties

JOB GOALS:
 
To help each student develop competence in the basic skills of the core curriculum and an understanding of the structure of all curricular areas; to motivate each student to apply all the skills and concepts that they have learned to everyday life in solving real world problems; and to assist all students in becoming responsible and productive citizens.  Utilize special instructional skills to support students and instructional teams.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Administers assessments and/or tests for the purpose of assessing the level of students’ competencies.
  2. Provides data interpretation training to staff and school teams to include universal screeners (AIMSweb & Renaissance) and progress monitoring tools.
  3. Uses assessment data to identify areas of strength and opportunity for improvement, as well as assist teachers plan whole group and small group instruction for students who need additional support.
  4. Instructs students using tier 2 and tier 3 reading interventions to improve student success in academics.
  5. Coordinates data systems to provide critical information for data-based decision- making regarding tier decisions.
  6. Monitors integrity of implementation of Title I curriculum and progress of individual students, to include appropriate documentation of interventions implemented.
  7. Supports and manages the successful implementation of district-provided assessment tools and data management.
  8. Supports special education staff in the implementation of research-based best practices.
  9. Collaborates with a variety of parties for the purpose of improving the quality of student outcomes, developing solutions; achieving established program objectives and/or planning curriculum.
  10. Prepares teaching materials and a variety of electronic documents, files, and records for the purpose of implementing lesson plans and documenting student progress.
  11. Assists teachers and instructional staff to develop research-based, instructional practices that support the development of literacy and mathematical background knowledge and concept development.
  12. Supports teachers in developing and implementing secondary interventions.
  13. Supports teachers and staff in developing and delivering professional development opportunities.
  14. Responsible for Title I Reading Support paraprofessionals and Title I Reading Support programming.
  15. Accepts other responsibilities and duties, relevant to teaching assignment, as assigned by administration.
  16. Reports to building principal.

Qualifications

  1. Valid Illinois Professional Educator's License
  2. Master’s Degree in Reading
  3. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.

Salary/Benefits

Salary and work year per the collective bargaining agreement.  This position follows the teacher's salary schedule and pays into TRS.

EVALUATION:                       
 
The evaluation will be conducted by the Director of Curriculum & Instruction.  Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board of Education’s policy on the Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
