Duties
Primary Purpose: Provide students with appropriate instructional supports and experiences to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth as aligned in the District’s Strategic Plan. This collaborative, multi-faceted role includes:
- Planning for instruction and assessment on an individual and program basis.
- Planning with colleagues at the building and district level to promote student learning and the success of all learners.
- The professional teaching standards to which each teacher is expected to conform are set forth in Charlotte Danielson’s Framework for Teaching
- Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities and materials, and equipment that reflect the needs of student assigned
- Work cooperatively with general education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP)
- Embrace inclusive practices for all students.
- Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students
- Maintain a professional relationship with all colleagues, students, parents, and community members
- Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible
- Maintain confidentiality in the conduct of district business
- Support and train assigned paraprofessionals as required
Qualifications
Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with Learning Behavior Specialist I endorsement required
