Duties
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: Provides daily direction and guidance in the area of bilingual and ESL to bilingual-bicultural staff in Pre-K – 12 and other school personnel for the purpose of developing, implementing and maintaining an effective education program for English learners. Assumes leadership in bilingual (TBE/TPI) curriculum development, revision and review, supports teachers as they implement new instructional strategies, and analyzes achievement data
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Staff – appropriately certified per program and grade level(s), Bilingual and/or ESL endorsement.

- Learning Communities: Engage in Continuous Improvement and Implementation of Change Research
- Develops capacity to apply the continuous improvement process especially as it relates to curriculum, assessment, instruction, and professional learning.
- Aligns professional learning in curriculum, instruction, and assessment with school and system goals and aligns own professional learning with system-wide professional learning goals
- Coordinate program and activities which heightens awareness of multi-cultural education and equity issues in terms of curriculum instruction.
- Coordinates student leadership and recognition initiatives.
- Monitors and assigns software licenses for staff
- Create monthly newsletter for staff
- Leads discussion during staff meetings, assist in problem solving, collects input and feedback for program improvement
- Provides presentations for parents.
- Create Alignment and Accountability
- Collaboratively establishes and monitors implementation of a guaranteed and viable curriculum based on best practice research and in accordance with district guidelines, aligned with national, state, and local adopted standards; ensures alignment vertically, horizontally, and across learning programs; facilitates and coordinates curricular pilots, where applicable.
- Provides Professional Learning and Development on high-quality, rigorous assessment practices, including creation, standards alignment, and data utilization for instructional pivot points.
- Organizes, implements, and evaluates bilingual programs and English as a Second Language Services (ESL) in accordance with approved local, state and federal rules and regulations.
- Conducts curriculum review, revision and necessary changes for bilingual curriculum innovations through District approved procedures (Curriculum Committee).
- Reviews instructional material and makes recommendations for change through involvement of instructional staff.
- Assist with teacher evaluations when necessary
- Conduct s daily internal classroom observations.
- Conduct daily informal classroom observations and provide feedback to staff.
- Assist in evaluating Bilingual Department Staff
- Models instructional strategies to teachers.
- Leadership
- Develops capacity among teaching staff to lead job-embedded professional learning.
- Reviews and evaluates, in cooperation with the building principal, the bilingual staff, pupils, plan of program operation, and course of study, equipment and materials in terms of program objectives and recommend changes where necessary.
- Assesses need for and provides in-service training for professional and paraprofessional staff directly impacted by bilingual programs and ESL services.
- Works with consultants and specialists to assist in incorporating their recommendation in District bilingual curriculum.
- Attend and participate and/or supervise parents and activities, such as Parent University, BPAC, etc.
- Maintain constant communication with buildings and Executive Director of Bilingual
- Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
03 and/or 09 with Bilingual and/or ESL endorsement, required
Type 75 Administrative Certificate preferred
Bilingual (Spanish/English or Arabic/English), preferred
Teaching and/or administrative experience in a state approved TBE/TPI program, preferred

Salary Range - $78,526 - $95,645
