CLASSIFICATION: Speech/Language Pathologist
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 180 days per year
Job Summary: Ensure that the District is providing students with an IEP the free, appropriate public education to which they are entitled and that all services required under students’ IEPs are provided.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and monitor the implementation of individualized educational plans.
- Provides instruction and services through individual and small-group therapy to no more than 60 students and will caseload will not exceed requirements as outlined in the Illinois Administrative Code.
- Participate in staff meetings as deemed necessary by administration.
- Contact parents/guardians, establish meeting dates, and disseminate meeting notices for all required IEP meetings.
- Attend professional development trainings through JAMP as prescribed by JAMP and District #55 administration.
- Process all paperwork to include dissemination of copies to appropriate personnel and maintain confidentiality regarding the handling of student records and student information.
- Maintain contact with outside agencies and parents in regards to assigned students.
- Maintain contact with the Director of Special Education and the District #55 administration regarding student progress, individualized academic plans, and/or casework that may need the assistance of the Director or administration.
- Complete full academic evaluations to include appropriate written reports, in a timely manner.
- Case management of students to include: attendance at all scheduled meetings (initial evaluations, annual reviews, reevaluations, IEP revisions, domain meetings, parent/teacher conferences, and parent requested meetings), preparation of all appropriate paperwork.
- Consult services will be provided to teacher(s) and support staff, as deemed necessary based upon each student’s needs and IEP requirements.
- Parent contact will be made quarterly to review goals and to indicate the extent of progress being made towards those goals. This communication will be documented.
- Complete I-TAMES forms and reporting in a timely manner (Medicaid).
- Will serve as a liaison between the student’s family, school, and community agencies, as needed.
- May participate in the district’s child find activities as deemed necessary by the administration.
- Comply with all federal and state regulations and provisions regarding the position of a special education teacher. Comply with all District #55 policies and procedures for certified staff.
- Participate and/or provide needed information to the Rams’ Problem Solving Team to assist in the Response to Intervention Program.
- Perform all other duties and responsibilities as taken and/or assigned by the District #55 administration and BOE.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS AND RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS:
- Proper and current IL teacher licensing/certification, respective to the area of Speech/Language Pathology.
- Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with students, parents, staff, administration and respective stakeholders.
- Ability to work with students with special education needs.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to students’ individual learning styles.
- Must be willing to maintain appearance and professionalism assigned to duties and responsibilities.
Salary/Benefits
Maternity Leave Salary/Benefits negotiable for this position.
Additional Notes
Projected start date would be end of February, 2022 and maternity leave would be through the remainder of the 2022-2023 school year (i.e., end of May, 2023).,
