Duties
The Academic Advisor provides resource, support, mentoring and intervention services that are directed towards facilitation of student entry and re-engagement in a new academic environment; assists with the recruitment and transition of students; provides individual and group counseling services to meet the developmental, preventive and remedial needs of students; develops school counseling program; interprets test results and other student data; assists teachers in the educational placement of students by using appropriate educational assessment tools; assess and refer students to WIA Case Manager; maintains an extensive knowledge of post-secondary schools, including colleges and universities; acts as a liaison among school, home and community; and; performs additional duties as assigned.

· Bachelor’s degree
· Experience in advising and counseling at-risk students
· Knowledge of school organizational structure
· Excellent follow-up skills
· Excellent oral and written skills
· Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
