Duties

Job Summary:
The District is seeking paraprofessionals that can read, write, and speak both English and Spanish. The paraprofessional performs various tasks in assisting the classroom teacher with meeting the educational and language needs of the students.  The paraprofessional may adapt instructional materials for students, including translating materials, as directed by the teacher. The paraprofessional works with individual students or groups of students to reinforce new skills initially taught by the teacher in the student’s target language. The District is seeking to hire paraprofessionals to work in our bilingual, Dual Language, Early Childhood, and special education programs. 

Qualifications

• Must hold a State of Illinois  Educator License with Stipulations for Paraprofessionals - ELS (PARA);
• Must be able to read, write, and speak Spanish fluently;
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, use of email and Google Suite applications;
• Ability to collaborate with the classroom teacher and assist with instruction and supervision of students;
• Ability to use independent judgment and demonstrate initiative to act in accordance with established policies and regulations;
• Ability to follow oral and written directions;
• Some knowledge of the field of child development and some knowledge of student behavior management techniques;
• Able to serve as a role model for students by demonstrating a positive attitude and effective work ethic; and
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, administrators, and parents.

Salary/Benefits

• Starting hourly pay of $15.72-$18.70;
• Starting hourly pay is commensurate with education and includes a competitive benefits package;
