Duties

The Director of Buildings and Grounds is directly responsible to the Chief School Business Official for providing a physical learning environment that is clean, safe, well-maintained, attractive and functions smoothly.  He/She will supervise, direct, and participate in the performance review of all custodial and maintenance activities along with administering personnel in the District.  He/She must be knowledgeable in the areas of plumbing, heating, air conditioning, electrical maintenance, carpentry, equipment repair, and general maintenance.

Qualifications

  1. Minimum of 5 years of successful experience as Buildings and Grounds Facilities Manager of a school district. Experience with construction and remodeling is preferred.  In addition, formal education (Licenses & Certifications) related to sophisticated HVAC building systems (electrical, mechanical, security, structural, etc.) is preferred.
  2. College degree is preferred; high school diploma required
  3. Computer skills in Mac & Windows environment (Google Suite and Microsoft Excel and Word)
  4. Mechanical skills to include but not limited to knowledge of:
    1. HVAC
    2. Plumbing
    3. Electrical
    4. Carpentry
  5. Effective oral and written communication skills
  6. Ability to use discretion and exercise sound judgment
  7. Strong organizational and time management skills and ability to work independently
  8. Demonstrated leadership and personnel management skills
  9. Critical thinking, problem solving, and strong interpersonal skills

  6. Supervises and participates in general maintenance and repairs to plumbing, electrical, carpentry, windows, and general mechanical areas.
  7. Supervises and assists in maintenance of school grounds including snow removal during winter months.
