Duties

Job Summary:
The pre-kindergarten classroom teacher is responsible for planning engaging instruction for students using the Creative Curriculum.  The teacher is responsible for differentiating instruction for all students.  The teacher administers the pre-school screening tool and uses the Teaching Strategies GOLD assessment system to collect student achievement data and monitor growth.  The teacher communicates with students' parents or guardians regarding the instructional program and student progress.  The teacher is responsible for creating an environment of respect and rapport, in which safety and order is the norm. 

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Current and valid PEL with an Early Childhood Education Special Education endorsement;
  • Individual must be flexible, creative, and child centered;
  • Candidate shall have knowledge of best instructional practices for teaching developmental learning skills;
  • Candidate must be able to model and teach students socially acceptable behaviors and employ positive reinforcement programs;
  • Individual must be able to create a warm and nurturing environment in which children can explore and begin to develop socially and academically;
  • Experience Teaching Strategies GOLD and Creative Curriculum desired;
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.

Salary/Benefits

Salary and Benefits: 

  • Starting salary of $47,357; (Please click the link to view the current Salary Schedule);
  • Salary is commensurate with education and experience and includes a competitive benefits package;

  • Qualified candidates may be granted up to eight years of verified full-time public-school teaching experience for credit on the salary schedule;

Additional Notes

Working Conditions:

  • 180 days per year - August through May/June
