Duties
Greet students every day, monitoring upon arrival and departure. Maintain a safe and welcoming classroom environment. Be familiar with student check-in sheets and procedures, including wanding, checking bags, and turning in cell phones. Instructor for alternative junior high and high school students. Mediate discipline issues in the classroom. Assist in developing student IOEP by attending intake meetings when available. Work with students on their student education plan/IOEP. Review goals as needed. Follow RAES Student Handbook and student discipline policies. Evaluate student progress and record grades in Teacherease. Complete weekly student progress reports. Monitor and coordinate Edgenuity usage. Order classes for students as needed. Upon class completion, update all required documents. Record student attendance in DAISI and Teacherease. Record and collect data on student assessments. Assist in grant writing and reporting as requested by RAES Director. Meet regularly with the RAES Director/Assistant Director. Attend ICEARY and other professional development opportunities as approved. Assist with public relations for RAES: newsletters, press releases, community communications, etc. Assist with scheduling volunteer opportunities. Coordinate with the Bridge Instructor. Develop and maintain a positive classroom environment with the use of an incentive program. Assist with and attend RAES graduation. Stand and deliver teacher taught lessons as outlined in the RAES Instruction and Procedures Manual. Work collaboratively with other RAES Instructors to streamline, develop, and maintain daily lesson plans. Keep the classroom and school environment clean and tidy at all times. Maintain regular contact with parents/guardians, no less than a minimum of two contacts per month per student. May be required to perform other tasks as assigned by the Regional Superintendent or RAES Director.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree (in Education or related field preferred) Professional Education License (PEL) or ability to obtain PEL Experience working with at-risk youth Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc. Knowledge of Google Suite programs including Classroom, Docs, Sheets, Forms, Slides, etc. Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs. Ability to push/pull up to 10 lbs. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills to work with teachers, education support personnel, building administrators and the general public in an acceptable/courteous manner. Enforce ROE regulations and policies in a professional manner. Ability to maintain good working relationships with fellow employees. Ability to maintain professional boundaries with all students.

The work hours for this position are Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The schedule is subject to change with ROE demands. RAES School Calendar + pd days. This is a year round position. .
