Duties

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons to all students in the classes.
  • Teach students according to the educational needs, abilities, and achievement of the individual students and groups of students.
  • Work with science team to develop and implement common assessments, rubrics, and lesson activities.
  • Develop lesson plans and assessments compatible with the instructional and assessment philosophies of the District.
  • Implement accommodations for all students with IEP and 504 plans, as legally required.
  • Assign work and evaluate work carried out by students, including written assessments, oral presentations, etc.
  • Utilize district’s electronic grading system to regularly post assignments and submit grades throughout each grading period.
  • Review and evaluate one’s own teaching and learning strategies and methodologies in consultation with supervisors and fellow academic staff.
  • Collaborate with fellow teachers and staff, inside and outside of the assigned academic discipline to achieve the school’s curricular goals.
  • Participate in staff professional development, and out-of-class duties in compliance with school and district goals.
  • Communicate with school administration, parents, and school counselors on student progress.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Candidate will need to work at a high level of independence.
  • Candidate should be familiar with current educational practices, Next Generation Science Standards, and have a commitment to teaching and curriculum development.
  • Candidate will have the ability to collaborate with others; manage multiple task; analyze situations and adopt an effective course of actions; meet schedules and timelines; maintain confidentiality of privileged information.
  • Candidate should have a general understanding of Google Classroom and the use of 21st century technology in the classroom.
  • KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
    KNOWLEDGE OF:
    • Research-based instructional practices to ensure that all students’ academic needs are being met.
    • Holistic approach to educating students.

JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Adjunct Science Teacher
REPORTS TO: Principal/Assistant Principal
JOB FUNCTION: The adjunct science teacher will be responsible for teaching middle school science courses that encompass life, physical, and earth sciences as well as S.T.E.M. Under the direction of the administrative team, they will participate in regular collaborative professional learning community meetings with colleagues and will deliver instruction in collaboration with the other science teachers.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Illinois Substitute Teaching Certificate
