Duties

Responsibilities:

  • Keep the dishes, kitchen and cafeteria clean and sanitized according to the State regulations
  • Operate and maintain the dishwashing machine and check gages for proper temperature levels
  • Provide a weekly inventory of supplies (inventory and order request)
  • Under the instruction of the Head Chef pull/or rotate items to front of shelves according to date, and store newly delivered items behind rotated items, maintaining the first-in-first-out inventory process for all (freezer, refrigerated, dry goods and chemicals) items
  • Under the supervision of the Head Chef/Assistant; unload all deliveries and stock all inventory in their designated areas (date all inventory using the first-in-out process)
  • Deliver items to other District sites
  • Flexible to work some evenings
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

Requirements, Skills and Abilities:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Must have Food Service Managers Certificate from State of Illinois
  • A minimum of one year dishwasher experience
  • Exhibits good attendance and punctuality
  • Maintain a good working and professional environment
  • Knowledge of sanitation standards
  • Maintain work-place confidentiality
  • Ability to respond to oral and written directives
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a group/team environment

Job Description:
Under the general supervision of the building principal and building head chef.  The primary duties of the Dish Room Attendant/Porter is to clean and sanitize the dishes and kitchen/cafeteria areas, meal area; according to State regulations.  Unload deliveries and stock them in their designated areas, assist with pulling inventory for the daily preparation of breakfast and lunch meals.  Follow all policies and procedures of the District and the Food Service Department.
