Duties
Responsible for the planning, direction, and leadership of the district’s multi-unit Food & Nutrition
Department. Administration of the National School Breakfast, Lunch, After School Snack, and
Summer Programs in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations and requirements.
Provide wholesome, attractive, nutritionally balanced meals, prepared within safe and sanitary
conditions. Plan and develop a yearly department budget to ensure a financially sound operation.
Communicate and collaborate with all stakeholders including colleagues, administrators, parents,
and students. Responsible for the timely completion of employee evaluations. Maintain
confidentiality of student/staff information in the department and in the community. Travel within
the district and surrounding communities is required.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent educational experience, with academic major or
concentration in food and nutrition, food service management, dietetics, family and
consumer sciences, nutrition education, culinary arts, business, or a related field; OR
Bachelor's degree, or equivalent educational experience, with any academic major or area
of concentration, and a State-recognized certificate in food and nutrition, food service
management, dietetics, family and consumer sciences, nutrition education, culinary arts,
or business. (Master’s degree in related field preferred.)
2. Illinois Manager’s Sanitation Certificate from the Illinois Department of Public Health or
required to obtain within 30 days of employee’s starting date.
3. Current Illinois Driver’s License.
