Duties

  • Collaborate with students, families, and community agencies to facilitate high-quality services for post-high school success.
  • Develop employment, volunteer, mentoring, Internship, and job shadowing opportunities for students receiving special educational services at RBHS.
  • Ensures transition planning is part of the IEP process.
  • Makes referrals and coordinates intakes for all programs/services offered through the LADSE Vocational Program including DRS, Career Academy, WIOA.
  • Provide measurable documentation of students’ progress in Goal areas.
  • Assist the Director of Special Education Services in identifying related service needs and in making the necessary referrals for students within special education.
  • Participate in LADSE Vocational Alliance, Options Fair, and Chamber of Commerce meetings.
  • Provides a bridge with the Guidance Department and administers non-clinical assessments (Interest Inventories, Vocational Evaluations).
  • Guide students and their families in identifying professionals to assist them in the areas of guardianship, wills, trusts, Social Security and other benefits, as needed.
  • Assist in implementing instruction necessary for students to meet academic and behavioral expectations, and IEP goals.
  • Incorporate the Six Pillars of Character Counts: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness,

Caring, and Citizenship.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS2 – Transition Specialist endorsement, or Certified Rehabilitation Counselor
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Experience in job development and/or job coaching of people with disabilities, preferred
  • Experience specific to high school, or transition planning, or in coordinating school and post school services and supports, preferred
  • Willingness to support young adults with disabilities in various community settings and at job sites.
  • Ability to communicate (written/verbal), make decisions, resolve conflict, and effectively work with staff, students, and Administration

Salary/Benefits

RBEA Collective Bargaining Agreement, salary depending on certification
