Duties
JOB SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Assistant Superintendent for Administrative Services, the Director of Finance assumes primary responsibility to ensure fiscal responsibility. Some of these duties include but are not limited to the following:
· Preparation of Federal Form W-2, 1099 and quarterly payroll tax returns.
- Serves as the Illinois Municipal Fund (IMRF) Authorized Agent and prepares monthly reporting of IMRF Pension earnings and other duties.
- Assist in preparation of annual budget.
- Supervise annual audit and prepare management discussion and analysis and comprehensive annual financial report as a result of audit.
- Supervises, assists and backup the Accounting, Payroll and Accounts Payable functions.
- Manage cash flow and investments of District in accordance with state statues and Board policy.
- Assist with bond compliance and annual continuing disclosure statement preparation.
- Review district procurement card statement.
- Prepare monthly financial reports for the Board of Education.
- Responsible for District accounting records.
- Assist buildings with Student Trust Accounts and the reconciliation of these accounts each month.
- Assists in processing of athletic official payments.
- Process fiscal year end earning reports.
- Process fiscal year end absence balances.
- Update contractual payroll schedules for the new fiscal year and when necessary, process retroactive payroll for contract settlements.
- Responsible for bond payments.
- Prepare and/or review various ISBE reports.
- Administer employee retirement plan.
- Supervise student fees.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s Degree desirable.
EXPERIENCE
- Three years of experience in accounting.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- General knowledge of governmental accounting,
- Ability to exert strong leadership in the field of accounting.
- Knowledge of sound accounting principles.
- Ability to make firm decisions and delegate responsibility to staff.
- Ability to develop and implement short and long-range plans.
- Ability to function effectively as a member of the central office.
- Ability to communicate effectively in speech and writing.
Salary/Benefits
The work year for this position is twelve (12) months. The salary is competitive with excellent fringe benefits, including life, health, and dental insurance.
