Assistant Principal - 6th-12th Grades
Performance Descriptors:
The Assistant Principal assists the building principal in organizing and fostering a positive, safe environment that is conducive to best meeting the needs of all students, staff, and parents.
Essential Job Functions:
- Demonstrate support for the vision, values, and goals of District 326.
- Uphold the established Board of Education policies, regulations, and administrative procedures.
- Support, implement, promote, and enhance the District’s educational program through effective management practices.
- Support progressive education ideas and practices in conjunction with 21st Century teaching and learning principles.
- Demonstrate commitment to student achievement, school improvement, and professional development through the collection and analysis of relevant data.
General Duties and Responsibilities (in partnership with the Principal):
- Organize, manage, evaluate, and supervise effective and clear procedures for the operation and functioning of the entire school consistent with the vision, values, and goals of the school and district.
- Administer and assume responsibility for building programs and facilities as directed by the Principal and Superintendent, including, but not limited to, student supervision during arrival and dismissal, hallway supervision, and lunchroom/outside supervision.
- Develop and implement appropriate discipline procedures and student support services.
- Supervision and performance evaluation of staff in accordance with district guidelines.
- Plan, develop, organize, and conduct staff professional development programs and activities.
- Promote positive communication with students, staff, parents, and community members.
- Supervise and assist with the management of student behavior in cooperation with teachers, counselors, school resource officer (law enforcement), and parents.
- Actively engage in personal professional growth and development, keeping current with research and trends related to education.
- Facilitate and sustain open dialogue with parents to maximize parent involvement in all aspects of the educational process (improvement of instruction and climate of the school as well as activities and sports).
- Develop and understand the learning targets for each content area and demonstrate an understanding of effective instructional strategies that teachers must utilize to help students reach those learning targets.
- Support grade level teams and/or departments in the development of curriculum and instructional practices.
- Participate in the implementation of a problem solving process that includes a specific and purposeful emphasis on data collection, academic intervention, and social/emotional intervention.
- Understand and utilize instructional technology platforms and practices (Chromebooks, G-Suite, Student Management Systems, Microsoft Windows, etc.)
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the principal and/or superintendent.
Qualifications
Professional Educator License with General Administrative (Type 75).
