Public Alternative School Social Studies Educator
This position serves students in grades 6-12 attending the West40 High Needs Alternative Learning Options Program and Regional Safe School, located in Hillside, Illinois.
This candidate must be strength-based, trauma-informed, able to share in creating a restorative climate, a GREAT team player and dedicated to serving the most vulnerable students and families. Most importantly, this candidate must be a compassionate individual with a heart for young people, eagerness to grow and relentless passion to serve.
Job responsibilities include: instruction of academic classes, attendance at monthly parent programs, participation in student led-conferences, transition planning, and data collection. This position fills the needs of the school community, from helping greet kids in the morning to stepping in a classroom if needed, or provide counsel as a mentor, role model and educator.
This a ten month position and follows a typical school calendar.

Qualifications
Credentials: Professional Educator Licensure (PEL) in secondary education mathematics and/or science is preferred. Our students need to see themselves in our staff and feel authentic connections. Candidates of color or experienced in serving youth of color are encouraged to apply.
