Duties

POSITION GOAL(S):
Design, implement, troubleshoot, analyze and maintain the information technology network infrastructure environment; including network switching, routing, connectivity, wireless, network security, firewalls and related. Familiar with a variety of the technology networking and infrastructure concepts, practices, and procedures. Rely on experience and judgment to plan and
accomplish goals. Perform a variety of complicated information technology tasks, and provides support for escalated trouble tickets. Identify, research, and resolve technical problems in related fields. Provide supplementary/secondary support related to Windows server administration, Linux server administration, server virtualization, enterprise Storage Area Network (SAN), data
backup/restore, and provide Windows desktop management.


JOB DUTIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Network systems infrastructure design and implementation
2. Technical network related project leadership and implementation
3. Respond and resolve departmental requests and reports of exceptions regarding information technology network related infrastructure in a professional, timely, and
efficient manner.
4. Take ownership of network related infrastructure issues, applying best practices, internal tools, and advanced techniques, exhausting all available resources to resolve before escalation.
5. Capture accurate, succinct information regarding issues as they occur, using the District’s Help Desk system to enhance management processes.
6. Facilitate communications about changes within the Information Services environment.
7. Embrace ITIL (formerly known as Information Technology Infrastructure Library) as the framework and structure to provide customer support to our organization.
8. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE:
1. Current enterprise-class network infrastructure/system engineering experience in, network design, implementation and management of network routing and data distribution fundamentals, firewalls, network protocols and Cisco IOS/NXOS internetwork operating systems and related. Various protocols include RIP, EIGRP, OSPF, NTP,SNMP, DNS, DHCP, OTV for example.
2. FortiNet/FortiGate, Palo Alto PAN-OS operating system, wireless networking (Cisco Meraki and Meru)
3. Experience designing and implementing High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions.
4. Data center design and management.
5. Experience configuring VoIP requirements on switches, routers and related (i.e. QoS)
6. Working knowledge of VoIP communications and functionality on Cisco Unity.
7. Supplemental knowledge/support and experience designing, implementing and managing the following, server platforms, storage, and virtualization, Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Windows Server (latest version), Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS), Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Group Policy Objects, VMware ESXi virtual machine, Storage Area Network technology (Dell Compellent), SuSE Linux operating system, NetIQ Identity Manager.
8. Superior problem-solving skills with excellent communication and broad technical abilities.
9. Ability to maintain a positive and constructive attitude and to work effectively in a dynamic work environment.
10. Organized, highly motivated. and able to prioritize and multitask.
11. Cisco & Microsoft Certifications are preferred.
12. Strong customer service focus.

EDUCATION:
1. Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering or related field (preferred) with 5 years of Network Engineer Experience, or associate degree with 5-7 years of progressive related experience, or 7-10 years of progressive related experience.
