Duties

Job Goal:  Provide professional learning, technical support, and on-site coaching (including direct student support) to member district and SASED programs at all levels (district, building/program, grade level, &/or individual classroom)

 

Duties and Responsibilities:  

 

  1. Meet regularly with district and school based teams on projects to complete self-study tools, set goals, plan for implementation, allocate resources, create a staff development plan, evaluate implementation integrity, monitor progress and plan for sustainability of their large/system-wide to small scale/classroom level/individual student team innovations. 
  2. Use coaching principles and components to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff and administrators in districts and programs, while matching coaching stance to the situation - e.g., coaching in front of (“I do” - modeling), coaching beside (“We do”- doing together), coaching behind (they do - coach provides feedback)

 

  1. Engage in and/or lead a systematic problem solving/continuous improvement process to define and analyze problems, create and implement action plans, and evaluate results for large/system-wide to small scale/classroom level/individual student team innovations

 

  1. Maintain a caseload of individual student referrals for academic and/or behavior-SEL concerns which may include assessment/data collection, intervention development, modeling, report writing (FBA & BIP), participation in student meetings, advocacy, and crisis management

 

  1. Assist with the formation and coordination of teaming and effective meeting strategies for district and program teams

 

  1. Conduct and/or support group and individual assessments for data based decision making (i.e., screening, formative/ summative, diagnostics (including FBA), & progress monitoring assessments in behavior/SEL and academics)

 

  1. Support the identification, implementation, and evaluation of Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 instruction and interventions for academics, behavior, & social emotional learning initiatives

 

  1. Develop, present, & evaluate trainings for various educational staff on a variety of topics (e.g., physical management strategies, behavior strategies, autism strategies, system change strategies, etc.)

 

  1. Collaborate and confer with supervisor and teammates regarding cases, presentations and projects

 

  1. Maintain own professional development and growth in areas related to instruction, behavior, mental health, legal implications and special education

 

  1. Maintain practices that meet the legal requirements in education

 

  1. Other duties as assigned

Terms of Employment:  194 day work year at compensation set by the SASED Board of Control.

Evaluation:  Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the SASED Board of Control policy on evaluation of licensed staff.



Qualifications

Qualifications:        

  • Master’s Degree in education or related services field
  • Illinois Professional Educator License issued by ISBE
  • Experience in teaching or related service field.  Previous coaching experience preferred.
