Duties

Position Summary: The Preschool Family Educator will work collaboratively with families, education staff and community partners to ensure that the program meets the needs of the whole child and supports parents/caregivers in addressing family needs along with setting and achieving ambitious family goals. This position is a partnership supporting preschool families and their children in the United and West Central School Districts. 

Responsibilities and expectations include:

*Establishing positive rapport with all families, school staff and community partners

*Commit to learn and implement ISBE Preschool for All and Preschool for All Expansion Implementation Manual, Early Childhood Rating Scale-3 and ISBE Compliance Checklist

*Full understanding of student growth and development

*Organize and conduct ongoing recruitment including year-round developmental screenings

*Support parents/caregivers in the enrollment process

*Establish and support two-way communication between families and each school

*Planning and implementing family engagement and education opportunities under the topics of Family Strengthening, Medical/Dental Needs and Mental Wellness.

*Engage parents/caregivers in Preschool Advisory Council and other leadership opportunities

*Coordinate and conduct home visits with families who meet the referral criteria to support home-school connection, address developmental skills and provide support for family goals

*Possess strong knowledge and understanding of community resources available to families in Henderson and Warren counties  

*Follow through with data collection as related to program services  

*Possess positive and strong communication skills

*Understand and utilize a growth mindset

*Seek to improve skills by attending ongoing professional development opportunities

Qualifications

Qualified candidates must possess an Associate degree, with experience working with families who have early childhood age children.

Salary/Benefits

Staring at 17.00 per hour 

Includes: Shared health insurance, life insurance, holidays, vacation and personal days, and retirement benefits.

Additional Notes

Hours for the position are Monday– Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., evenings as needed per family events/home visits and follows a year-round employment schedule.
