Speech Language Pathologist

Duties

  1. Identify and provide appropriate services for children with communication disorders in the following areas: a)Phonological/articulation disorders; b)Stuttering/dysfluency; c)Voice disorders; d)Language disorders; e)Speech-language disorders resulting from hearing impairment; f)Speech-language disorders resulting from organic anomalies 2. Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, District policy, and administrative regulation. 3. Screen kindergarten children and students new to the State of Illinois, along with referred students, to identify those who need further diagnostic testing. 4. Conduct speech and language case study evaluations. 5. Interpret test findings and make appropriate recommendations. 6. Serve as a resource to school staff members in the development of a balanced program for oral communication and speech improvement. 7. Conduct conferences with parents as required by law. Participate in multi-disciplinary conferences for referred students. 8. Refer students as needed for appropriate services and follow-up on said referrals. 9. Make classroom observations as appropriate. 10. Assist teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech-language impairments. 11. Develop an IEP for each student placed in speech-language therapy. 12. Maintain accurate records regarding student contact. Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Illinois license with Speech and Language Pathologist endorsement(s) required.
