Duties

  • The employee must perform this job successfully and the individual must be able to execute each requirement satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability needed for the position.

 

  • The employee will work harmoniously with others and communicate effectively (both orally and in writing)
  • The employee will understand and follow oral and writing instructions with limited supervision.
  • The employee will work diligently to keep building and grounds safe, attractive, and clean.
  • The employee will work on school grounds and fields with a minimum of supervision.
  • The employee will make minor building repairs, as directed.
  • The employee will report major repair issues promptly to the Director of Buildings and Grounds.
  • The employee will perform preventive maintenance procedures on building mechanical equipment on a scheduled basis; inspect belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, grease bearings, seals, etc.; repair or replace broken parts.
  • The employee will use proper personal protective equipment where required.
  • The employee will complete daily, weekly and monthly checklists on building equipment maintenance including HVAC systems and maintains records of scheduled maintenance
  • The employee will respond to emergency maintenance requests as required.
  • The employee will operate a variety of small and heavy equipment such as lawn mowers, bobcat, tractor, dump truck, snow plow, etc.
  • The employee will operate power tools safely according to manufacturer recommendations.
  • The employee will comply with state and local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash and waste.
  • The employee will obtain estimates for supplies and repair parts and will order parts, as needed.
  • The employee will perform maintenance / repairs tasks that may include but are not limited to:
    • minor electrical
    • minor plumbing
    • renovation / remodeling / demolition
    • painting
    • installation parts / repair
    • snow removal
    • mowing and trimming of grass, shrubs, and trees

 

  • The employee will perform custodial tasks that may that may include but are not limited to:
    • classroom, office, restrooms, and common area cleaning
    • moving furniture
    • floor waxing / care
    • general cleaning both inside and outside the building

 

  • The employee will perform physical requirements that may include:
    • standing, walking, use of hands to finger, handle, or feel;
    • reaching with hands and arms;
    • climbing or balancing;
    • stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling;
    • moderate to extensive degree of physical stamina and frequent lifting up to 50 lbs and occasional lifting up to 100 lbs;
    • frequent and prolonged use of extremities overhead;
  • specific vision abilities such as close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.
  • The employee will participate in in-service programs as assigned.
  • The employee will perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Building and Grounds.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent; general maintenance/custodial work experience preferred; statement of good physical condition to perform duties

This current position is a full-time, permanent one.
