Duties

Position:
The Interventionist will provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 targeted instruction. The Interventionist will create instructional plans to ensure identified students reach grade-level mastery of Illinois Learning Standards.
 
Job Goal:
To help students develop proficient math skills that will contribute to their academic growth.
 
 
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follow all policies and procedures of Community Unit School District 300 along with state and federal regulations pertaining to Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and IDEA.
  • Provide data-driven direct instruction to students identified for intervention supports.
  • Diagnose skill-based strengths and weaknesses and match the skills with appropriate techniques and materials.
  • Ensure consistent implementation of language strategies to develop oracy and vocabulary skills.
  • Use a variety of assessments to measure student learning and drive instruction.
  • Collaborate with teachers and instructional coaches to identify the academic needs of students, to set learning goals and targets, and to problem-solve with teachers to develop best practices for the continuous academic growth of students.
  • Provide a small group environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
  • Promote, monitor, and maintain the integrity of interventions and data.
  • Actively participate in a professional learning community.
  • Attend district-level meetings.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, administrative guidelines, or specific program requirements.
  • Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information.
  • Attend team/parent meetings as required in order to provide input to teams regarding student academic strengths and weaknesses.
  • Effectively communicate student progress to parents on a consistent basis.
  • Participate in universal screening activities and assist with the analysis of the data to identify students in need of MTSS services.
  • Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities, as may be assigned by the supervisor and Director of Math.

Qualifications

  • Valid Illinois Teaching License. Preferred certification in Middle School Mathematics
  • Teaching experience preferred
  • ESL Endorsement preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of math instructional strategies
  • Extensive knowledge of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)
  • Thorough understanding of the developmental progression of children’s math skills
  • Thorough understanding of Illinois Learning Standards
  • Skill in collecting, interpreting, and communicating data to a variety of audiences
  • Possess excellent organizational skills
  • Demonstrate knowledge in support and intervention strategies
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other staff members
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written)
