Duties

  • Develop vocal music program by improving students’ abilities from one year to the next and articulating with feeder schools to increase enrollment
  • Recommend placement of students into choir classes, holding auditions for selected enrollment courses
  • Plan, rehearse, and direct students in concerts and events for the school and community
  • Prepare students to participate in conference and state competitions
  • Coordinate Madrigals participation at extracurricular events, including, but not limited to, graduation, IMEA activities, community events, and other events as directed
  • Keep an accurate inventory and maintain choir and music equipment, uniforms, and supplies
  • Coordinate fundraising activities with the Music Sponsors for the development of additional choir activities and field trips
  • Facilitate student learning through lesson planning and quality instruction
  • Recommend to the Principal or designee supplies and materials needed for the class
  • Manage student behavior by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures
  • Assess student work and provide meaningful feedback to the student(s) and parents/guardians that will be conducive to learning
  • Maintain and update accurate records as required by the State, District, and Building Administration.
  • Attend required meetings and events
  • Stay current with developments in curriculum, instruction, and assessment
  • Coach or sponsor an extracurricular activity - preferred but not required (Compensation - RBEA Collective Bargaining Agreement)
  • Exhibit excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
  • Incorporate the Six Pillars of Character Counts: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Professional Educator License (PEL) - Music, vocal music experience required
  • Ability to communicate (written/verbal), make decisions, resolve conflict, and effectively work with staff, students, and Administration
