The Instructional Coach serves as part of the District Student Services Team and is responsible for
bringing evidence-based practices into classrooms by working with and supporting teachers and
administration with the goals of increasing student engagement, improving student achievement, and
building teacher capacity. The Instructional Coach will also work with the Building Student Assistance
Teams to help provide identified support in the classrooms. The Instructional Coach will engage in the
delivery of professional development (both small group and 1:1), including observing teachers, coaching
and modeling instructional and assessment strategies, and providing feedback that ensures effective
instruction and student learning.
Emphasis will be placed on specific skills for continuous improvement including, but not limited to:
· The use of formative & summative assessment
· The use of varying questioning techniques
· Providing specific & effective feedback to students


The qualified individual holds an IL Professional Educator License (PEL) with a
minimum of three years of classroom teaching experience. The Instructional Coach will be a highly
qualified educator who is knowledgeable about curriculum and instruction and is able to increase student
learning by fostering instructional excellence throughout the building.
