Duties
Summit School is seeking a fulltime LBS1 teacher for its private, special education program. The teacher in this position will:
- Work with a team to develop a new program for early elementary level students with significant social-emotional needs.
- Serve as a member of the Individualized Education Program (IEP) team to determine (a) the student’s eligibility for Special Education services, (b) instructional program, (c) goals and objectives, and (d) progress toward individualized objectives.
- Provide individualized and small group instruction and periodic assessments as specified by the student’s Individualized Education Program.
- Provide an appropriate physical and social/emotional environment to establish and reinforce appropriate student behavior, social skills, and self-worth.
Summit School is a 14-7.02 private special education center approved by the State of Illinois to serve students in the areas of Specific Learning Disabilities, Other Health Impairments, Emotional Disability, and Autism Spectrum Disorder. Our Cognia-accredited program serves students from kindergarten through high school graduation from more than 25 school districts in northern Illinois.

Qualifications
Experience: LBS 1 Elementary: 3 years (Preferred)
License: LBS 1 or equivalent (Required)
