Duties

Review and evaluate student assignments and activities.
Plan subject matter for individual abilities.
Maintain effective supervisory relationships with students.
Manage classroom behavior.
Conduct evaluations of student performance.
Notify school officials of performance findings.
Write and file narrative reports on students.
Maintain complete and accurate student records.
Communicate effectively with others within the Department.
Assist in developing educational policy and procedures.
Assist in program development and implementation.
Maintain resident files and documents.
Follow established security procedures.
Intervene in crisis situations.
Supervise staff assisting in classroom.
Contact home school districts to request resident's schedule, books, and assignments upon admission to the Detention Home.
Maintain and update school program library.
Other duties as assigned or required.
Performs all job tasks within the rules and guidelines of the County's Safety Policy and Procedure Manual.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field;
Certified by the State Department of Registration and Education. The education and training should include emphasis in special education with experience in dealing with difficult or disturbed youth.

Salary/Benefits

$41,132.00 starting annual/$19.78 hourly

Additional Notes
