  • Review and evaluate student assignments and activities.
  • Plan subject matter for individual abilities.
  • Maintain effective supervisory relationships with students.
  • Manage classroom behavior.
  • Conduct evaluations of student performance.
  • Notify school officials of performance findings.
  • Write and file narrative reports on students.
  • Maintain complete and accurate student records.
  • Communicate effectively with others within the Department.
  • Assist in developing educational policy and procedures.
  • Assist in program development and implementation.
  • Maintain resident files and documents.
  • Follow established security procedures.
  • Intervene in crisis situations.
  • Supervise staff assisting in classroom.
  • Contact home school districts to request resident's schedule, books, and assignments upon admission to the Detention Home.
  • Maintain and update school program library.
  • Other duties as assigned or required.
  • Performs all job tasks within the rules and guidelines of the County's Safety Policy and Procedure Manual.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field;
  • Certified by the State Department of Registration and Education. The education and training should include emphasis in special education with experience in dealing with difficult or disturbed youth.  


$41,132.00 starting annual/$19.78 hourly

Additional Notes
