INSTRUCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated by Special Education Director. 2. Plan and implement a program of study that meets the individual needs, interest, and abilities of the students as outlined in the I.E.P. 3. Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals, establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to students. 4. Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved. 5. Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required, using forma/informal diagnostic tools. 6. Diagnose the strengths and weaknesses of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district/Cooperative specialists as required. 7. Provide consultation to regular school personnel. CLASSROOM RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Maintain a classroom environment that is conducive to the achievement of stated learning objectives and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students. 2. Prepare for classes assigned, and show written evidence of preparation by use of daily lesson plans upon request of Director/Designee. 3. Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior by closely defining and consistently enforcing behavior in a fair and just manner. 4. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. 5. Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential records as required by law, district policy, and administration regulation. 6. Make provisions for being available to students and parents for education related purposes, when required. 7. Plan and direct purposeful assignments for program assistant(s) and volunteer(s) cooperatively with Director, and may provide input on job performance. (Teachers do not evaluate Program Assistants.) 8. Establish and maintain open lines of communication with parents regarding academics and behavioral progress of the assigned students. 9. Report student absences in excess of three (3) days to the office. 10. Submit student attendance reports tot he Attendance Secretary. PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Strive to implement by instruction and action, the Cooperative’s Mission Statement/Philosophical Tenets. 2. Assist the administration in following all policies and rules governing student life and conduct during school related activities. 3. Develop his/her own professional growth through reading, workshops, inservices, conferences and/or advanced coursework. 4. Attend required meetings. 5. May serve on curriculum and/or other committees related to special education or regular education. 6. May assist in the development and presentation of inservice activities as requested. 7. Maintain open line of communication with other personnel. 8. Maintain high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students. 9. Perform other duties, as necessary, to provide speech/language services as assigned by the Director of Special Education or Assistant Director of Special Education.


Certified in area(s) of handicap to be taught in State of Illinois 2. Bachelors Degree from NCATE college or university 3. Out of state applicants must be able to be certifiable or approvable in the State of Illinois 4. Other qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable
